causes of weight gain

One member posted that the Feast or Famine Cycle did not apply to her because she had never been a dieter.  So why did she become overweight?  There are many ways to famine.  Formal dieting is just one way, and it is very common as a trigger for the weight gain promoted by the Feast or Famine Cycle.  All people who become very heavy or obese that I have known have very significant diet histories.  But people go hungry for other reasons.  Many people simply eat recklessly, missing meals (especially breakfast) and eating late, long after they become hungry, because food is not available.  If they are famine sensitive, they will gain weight.  Others eat lousy food much of the time.  This causes quality famines with malnourishment and can lead to appetite, metabolism, eating and weight problems.  It doesn’t matter whether your insensitivity to your body’s needs is on purpose or accidental, it must adapt.  However, once dieting is introduced, the problems usually become much more serious.
Sincerely,
Jean Antonello

There are a LOT of aspects I’ve never thought about before. Although I’m a scientist, when it came to me and to my “painful” experience with food, I chose to believe that “eat less + exercise more = weight loss” and tried to solve the problem overnight. And, even if I’m slightly overweight, I went on starving constantly, making up for it big time when the food was available.
Hmm, it’s time to “grow up” and realize it might take longer than “Lose 10 pounds in 7 day. Yaay!”
